When God brought us into this world, he gave each of us the ability to dream about whatever we wanted to in life. We've dreamed about what kind of careers we would have when we grew up. We even had dreams about our future spouse, where we would get married, how many children would we have, what kind of house would we live in, and what kind of car would we drive?
But dreams without action will be nothing more then dreams. If we really had an attraction to someone of the opposite sex, but we never let that person know that we were interested in them, how would he/she ever know? If we had a dream to become a doctor or a pilot, but we never went to college to acquire the education to make that dream become a reality, then we never would know if we were missing out on something.
While sometimes the things we dream about we'll never be able to achieve, that doesn't mean that we simply give up dreaming. It means that we're given new dreams, and once again the cycle of putting action behind those dreams has to be pursued if we're ever to reach them. I've had many dreams that due to some physical handicaps, I was unable to pursue them. My first dream from the time I was 2 was to become a pilot and fly fighter jets in the military, and then move on to commercial airlines. However I was born with a minor hearing loss, and so physically that prevented me from being able to pass the physical examination required for that kind of profession.
When I was in the 7th grade, I began to bring out the entrepreneur in me, when I began to sell candy to other students at school. I would visit the grocery store and buy the candy that sold for 5 cents, and then I would take it to school the next day and sell it for 10 cents. Whenever we had school fundraisers, I usually was the top seller in the class and therefore won some really cool stuff. As a teenager, I wanted to become a millionaire and developed an interest in real estate. However life took a u-turn, I got married, got a job and put my dream on hold for 14 years.
Now my dream is to become financially independent, build a house that I design and pay for, have my money work for me instead of me having to work for it, so if and when I ever get married again, my future spouse won't have to worry about the bills being paid, or not being able to travel, or worrying about how to take care of the family. I know that I have to put action to those dreams and sometimes that's hard because it's always easier to give up, then to keep moving forward until dreams are achieved.
Have you reached your dreams yet, and if not, are you putting any action forward so that those dreams will be more then just a memory?
